Breedon completes sale of Shropshire site to housing developer in £11m deal
BREEDON Aggregates, the UK’s largest independent aggregates business, has completed the sale of a 60-acre site in Shropshire for £11m.
The site at Doseley, near Telford has been acquired by BDW Trading, a subsidiary of house builder Barratt Developments.
The land is on the site of a former concrete products plant and has outline planning consent for 460 homes, which will be built and marketed under the David Wilson Homes brand.
Breedon said it would receive phased cash payments over four years commencing in 2014.
Breedon Aggregates is the largest independent aggregates business in the UK after the four global majors. It operates 52 quarries, 27 asphalt plants, 61 ready-mixed concrete plants and three concrete block plants in England and Scotland and employs approximately 1,250 people. The group has strong asset backing, with more than 450 million tonnes of mineral reserves and resources in the UK.
