Pushkar expands Birmingham presence following six-figure investment

AWARD winning Indian restaurant, Pushkar, is expanding its Birmingham base with a six-figure investment in a new facility in Edgbaston.

The cocktail bar and restaurant is a familiar sight on Broad Street and has recently celebrated its fifth anniversary.

As part of the celebrations, the company has opened a new venture in Edgbaston, called ‘Praza by Pushkar’.

The new restaurant, formerly the Rose Murree, will have an art deco theme featuring monochrome colours, glass and chrome. The style is intended to give a chic and luxurious feel to the new eatery.

Praza by Pushkar will open in the New Year and the venture is set to create 15 new jobs.

Praza will offer Pushkar’s celebrated North Indian cuisine, but with other global flavours and the intention is to develop a cosmopolitan feel to Birmingham’s restaurant scene.

The new menu will be masterminded by Pushkar’s award winning head chef, Bishal Rasaily, and will feature new and exciting meats such as pigeon, rabbit and lobster.

Director Rai Singh also plans to bring a grilling menu to Praza which will heavily incorporate more innovative and interesting flavour combinations that have not previously been a part of the city’s culinary scene.

He said: “We’re all delighted and proud to be celebrating five years of Pushkar, and we are excited to be launching Praza by Pushkar in the New Year. I’d like to say a huge thank you to all of our diners, friends, media partners, and, of course, the entire Pushkar team for all their hard work and commitment over the years.

“Our team has always remained strong and dedicated through our growing success. I believe this is key to any successful business, but especially one in the hospitality sector. I hope that we can continue this work ethic and the success of Pushkar in our new venture, Praza by Pushkar.”
