Broad Street visitors see stars of the sea on Walk of Stars

A BIRMINGHAM tourist attraction has ensured its visitors quite literally see stars when they make their way to the facility’s latest draw.

The National Sea Life Centre in Brindleyplace has augmented the popular Broad Street Walk of Stars with some new additions of its own.

It has added 18 temporary stars to the permanent ones inlaid into the footpath for celebrities such as Ozzy Osbourne, Jasper Carrott and Noddy Holder, in order to promote its newest attraction, Sea Stars.

West Side BID Manager, Mike Olley, said: “Although not everlasting, The National Sea Life  Centre Birmingham’s Walk of Stars are a great addition to Brum’s already impressive paving portfolio and are marking a very clear path towards the permanent new attraction, Sea Stars.

“It’s fantastic that the centre is introducing a new area for visitors from near and far to experience, especially following the popularity of Penguin Ice Adventure, which launched just last year.”

Sea Stars will be unveiled on March 28 and will allow visitors to get up close and personal with an eye-catching array of starfish from across the world’s oceans, including the Brittle Star, Chocolate Knobbed, Common Starfish, Red Knobbed and Sun-Star, which can have up to twelve arms!

Housed in a range of impressive displays, giant windows ensure visitors get a good look at the new attractions, while children can also climb through the Sea Star tunnel for a close up look at the fish.

Amy Langham, General Manager at The National Sea Life Centre, said: “The launch of Sea Stars will provide a fantastic opportunity to get up close and discover more about these fascinating creatures. It will really bring our interactive rockpool experience to life as well as this is where visitors are actually able to touch starfish.”

The centre is home to over 2,000 creatures, including sharks, a rescued Giant Green Sea Turtle, otters, jellyfish, piranha, octopus, rays and an adorable colony of waddling Gentoo penguins.
