Silicon Valley entrepreneur to tell Birmingham tech community about successful growth

ENTREPRENEUR Brian Donnelly is set to explain to ambitious firms in Birmingham how he founded and grew Constellar, a multi-million pound tech business.
Donnelly’s presentation will detail his journey from being a one-man UK start-up to the head of a major Silicon Valley business. He will detail how he raised an initial $3m and then grew the company through successive funding wins up to $30m.
This enabled the business to grow into an operation employing 160 people with a customer base in excess of 70.
Following the sale of Constellar, Donnelly returned to Birmingham to found his new start-up Synapse, which is based at the Innovation Birmingham campus. Synapse has grown revenues from £300,000 in 2012 to £1.3m 2014. It is already a profitable, cash positive business with wealth of Blue Chip customers.
Donnelly, who will speak at an event at the campus tomorrow (April 15), will compare the US/UK businesses, how investors view such firm and examine the relative merits of the customers and the economic and legislative climates.
He will close with a snapshot of how Synapse is leveraging its Birmingham connections, especially those at Innovation Birmingham Campus, to help growth.
He will also cover his experiences in hiring a local team, raising UK investment and selling to Blue Chip customers.
