Coventry facility made up to be staging cosmetic surgery conference

COVENTRY is set to play host to one of the UK’s leading plastic surgery training courses.

The course will be held in the state-of-the-art conference centre developed by University Hospitals Coventry & Warwickshire NHS Trust.

The Face Eyes & Nose Congress (FEN), which runs today (May 13) until May 17, has attracted some of the world’s top cosmetic surgeons. They will be showcasing their techniques and sharing their experience.

The event is supported by BAAPS and BAPRAS, the two major UK aesthetic surgery professional bodies. It is also supported by UKAAPS.

Now in its fifth year, the five-day FEN Congress is recognised as one of the best courses in Europe for facial aesthetic surgery and rhinoplasty.

As well as top UK specialists, FEN Congress has also attracted international experts, each recognised as world leaders in their field.

BAAPS president Michael Cadier said: “This is a real global gathering of best practice.  Undoubtedly, it’s the best aesthetics surgery course in the UK at the current time.

“It brings together a host of masters in the aesthetic surgery field to provide amongst the best educational opportunities here.”

The Course Director is Rana Das-Gupta, Consultant Plastic and Reconstructive surgeon at Warwickshire NHS Trust.

He said: “Here in the Heart of England, we have assembled some of the leading surgeons and practitioners in their field.

“Over the five days, delegates will be able to hear lectures from the likes of Tom Biggs who will take us on a journey through 53 years of aesthetic facial surgery; from Michael Yaremchuk on the use of implants in facial aesthetic surgery, and masterclasses on face lifts from Switzerland’s Michael Pfulg and Stefano Bruschi.”

The FEN Congress takes place in the lecture theatre, located in the trust’s flagship Clinical Sciences Building.

Dr Marie Midgley, Manager Medical Education at UHCW University Hospitals Coventry & Warwickshire, said: “UHCW is one of the largest and busiest NHS University Teaching Trusts in the country. We have a large new hospital, a fine Clinical Sciences Building, a state-of-the-art Surgical Training Centre and an inherent enthusiasm for medical education.  We also have close links with the University of Warwick.”
