VIDEO: Jaguar unveils all-new XF in dramatic style

JAGUAR Land Rover has officially launched its all-new Jaguar XF model and in a typical display of the company’s new-found ambitions has backed this up with plans for a massive new investment into production facilities.

The launch of the new model coincided with a dramatic ‘high-wire’ water crossing in the heart of London’s business district.

The XF was first launched in 2007 and is Jaguar’s biggest selling and most awarded car in its current product range. The next generation XF is completely new from the ground up and will be the second Jaguar model to use the brand’s advanced aluminium-intensive architecture after the new XE.

The new XF is 80kgs lighter than its closest competitor, resulting in best-in-class efficiency (over 70mpg) and CO2 (104g/km).

It is likely to be built at Jaguar’s Castle Bromwich plant and the company is expected to confirm later today plans for new investment into the factory, with an aluminium bodyshop similar to that installed at nearby Solihull for the production of the new Jaguar XE.

For the launch stunt, the company teamed up with British stunt man Jim Dowdall, veteran of Hollywood movies including Bond, Bourne and Indiana Jones. He drove the new XF a full 240 metres across a high-wire to demonstrate the car’s lightweight capabilities.

The feat took place high over the Royal Dock in London’s Canary Wharf.  Footage of the drive can be viewed below.
