JCB secures £9m order as plant hire firm re-equips

STAFFORDSHIRE excavator manufacturer JCB has secured a new order worth almost £9m from a plant hire operator looking to upgrade its fleet.

Newcastle-based Nixon Hire has invested in a fleet of JCB Loadall telescopic handlers and will take delivery of more than 150 machines throughout 2015.

The Loadalls – which are used for lifting and placing loads on construction sites – are all manufactured at JCB’s headquarters in Rocester.

The new fleet will go out on hire in construction and materials handling projects including civil engineering works, major house building and warehousing schemes across the UK.

JCB has been manufacturing Loadalls for almost 40 years and is the world’s biggest producer of telescopic handlers.

Graham Nixon, managing director, Nixon Hire said: “JCB is one of the industry’s leading brands and one that is in high demand from our customers. It is important for us to supply equipment that end users know and trust.

“JCB Loadall telescopic handlers particularly appeal for their high level of safety features, familiarity for end users and strong resale value. JCB has been the preferred supplier for Nixon Hire telehandlers since 2006.”

Several of the new machines will be based at Nixon Hire’s new, expanded depot in Glasgow which opened at the start of the year.

Nixon Hire is a leading provider of site equipment with core hire products including plant and tools, site accommodation and toilets.  Established in 1967, it is a family run business which boasts 14 depots across the UK and one in Doha, Qatar.
