Hi-fi retailer marks growth with new refit

BIRMINGHAM hi-fi shop, Audio Affair has marked its eighth successive year of growth with an extensive refit.

The business, based at The Custard Factory, Digbeth, uses a multi-channel retail strategy, which includes an online operation.

Audio Affair has been based in the same store since 2007 and the refit has seen it set up what is thought to be Birmingham’s only headphones bar, which is dedicated to high-end headphones.

The refit also features a soundbar wall, plus a selection of the latest hi-fi products and accessories.

The company, which launched a special service in 2012 to cater for the growing DJ market – DJ Tech Direct, is hoping its new approach, which will see it match internet prices, will pay dividends.

Alex Field, managing director, said: “It seems while online music services and sales of streaming products have grown, so has the interest in vinyl turntables and more traditional high end audio equipment.

“People are starting to rediscover why it’s worth spending more money to hear how good their music can sound at home or on the move.

“We believe having the right equipment is key to making the most of you music collection, whether you’re listening to Spotify, CD or vinyl.”
