Speculative development to be brought to market at Advanced Manufacturing Hub

THE Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) and Birmingham City Council have brought to market a plot of development land at the Advanced Manufacturing Hub (AMH) in Aston.

The partnership, which is being advised by Savills, is seeking a sale to a party which will speculatively develop a new industrial facility of circa 70,000 sq ft on the 4.7 acre site.

As part of the AMH, the land benefits from a local development order which grants planning consent for manufacturing, light industrial and R&D use without the need for a conventional application.

HydraForce Hydraulics was the first occupier to commit to the AMH and construction of its new 120,000 sq ft European headquarters, where 500 staff will be based, is now complete.

And global tool manufacturer Guhring is developing a 50,000 sq ft factory at the AMH.  The new facility will accommodate R&D and the full manufacturing process, complementing the firm’s existing operations in Castle Bromwich.

Charlie Spicer, industrial director at Savills, said: “The launch of this new phase is an exciting step forward for the AMH as it will ultimately lead to the site’s first speculative development.

“The calibre of occupiers attracted to the scheme so far is testament to its quality and the strength of the city’s advanced manufacturing sector.  We are confident its success is set to continue.”
