Second City office take-up reaches new high

THE 2015 year-end total take-up of office space in central Birmingham is 970,458 sq ft in 132 deals – a new record.

This follows the release of Q4 figures by the Birmingham Office Market Forum (BOMF) which show take-up of 212,449 sq ft in 30 deals.

The annual total compares with 713,460 sq ft in 148 deals for 2014, 664,147 sq ft in 128 deals for 2013 and 500,955 sq ft in 133 deals for 2012.

The total eclipses the previous high recorded in 2008 of 886,889 sq ft.

BOMF said that at more than 300,000 sq ft above both the five and ten year averages, the enhanced activity can be attributed to a strong indigenous occupier base that has been complemented with further significant inward investment activity from the likes of HSBC, Advanced Computer Software and Extra Energy.
