Recruiter eResponse Group hires apprenticeship specialist

MIDLANDS recruitment firm eResponse Group has appointed a new manager to oversee the firm’s apprenticeship offering.

Laura Guymer has more than 13 years’ experience in the recruitment sector, having been responsible for supporting large apprenticeship delivery schemes for the likes of Next and Boots. She will report to managing director Paul Alekna.

She said: “Apprenticeships are a great way to get experience on the job, as well as earning and learning at the same time. They’re great for employers too because they get someone trained to work according to their needs. 

“Where I come in is to make sure that it works to the mutual benefit of employer and apprentice. That means constantly reviewing and improving things not just for individuals but for the programmes as a whole.

“I’ve done this for brands including Boots, Next, EE, TK Maxx and William Hill. I’m looking forward to helping a new generation of workforce with that first, all important step on the career ladder.”

Business development director appointed at WMG

WMG at the University of Warwick has appointed Sue Parr as its business development director to develop its professional and executive programmes.
 
Parr, who joined WMG in December, spent 12 years at the Open University where she was director of executive education. There she suc created and developed a division responsible for delivering customised solutions for private and public sector organisations.
 
Prior to the Open University, she spent many years working with organisations in management learning and development, also coaching middle and senior managers in a range of organisations.

She said: “I’m looking forward to using my expertise to enhance the growing reputation of WMG’s professional and executive programmes.”
 

Incorporatewear appoints health and safety head

COLESHILL corporate clothing company Incorporatewear has appointed Chris Smith as head of health and safety.

The new role has been created in response to growth at the company, which recently opened a new 25,000 sq ft warehouse on the outskirts of Birmingham.

Incorporatewear has grown rapidly over the past three years, winning its largest ever contract from Marks & Spencer to provide uniform for 65,000 wearers alongside existing business with big-brand customers such as Virgin Atlantic.

Smith joined Incorporatewear in 2011 and previously worked in stock control and warehousing. As head of health and safety, he will establish new safety processes, and implement risk assessments and safe systems of work at both sites.

Part of his remit is to help Incorporatewear management and staff adapt to the company’s new health and safety guidelines.

He said: “I enjoy the variety of work, from writing policies to installing equipment, setting up and establishing the health and safety management role, and supporting others, from entry level staff to senior management.”

Spanish duo brought in at Campanile Hotel

THE Campanile Hotel Birmingham, based in Aston, has welcomed two new Spanish recruits as the latest additions to the team, which already includes a range of nationalities.

Pablo Llorente and Gema Hornero have moved to Birmingham toimprove their English so they can progress within the Campanile chain which is in 360 cities in ten countries.

Both recruits have ten years’ experience in the industry, as they both started out as waiters in Santander in Spain.

Llorente said: “It’s very important to speak fluent English in the tourism industry. We come into contact with many people from across the globe so having English as a language is a huge benefit.

“We’re really excited about what’s in store for the next year here, learning, working and becoming part of the family at Campanile.”
