Birmingham Airport tells passengers to check with airlines before flying to Brussels

BIRMINGHAM Airport has advised people planning to travel to Belgium to first check with their airlines – despite Brussels Airport re-opening to flights following last month’s terrorist attack.

Information on the Birmingham Airport website today said: “The safety of our customers and staff is of paramount importance to Birmingham Airport and our thoughts are with those in Brussels.

“Flights between Birmingham and Brussels Airport have been affected and we advise passengers due to travel to Brussels to contact their airline.”

Brussels Airlines, which flies to Birmingham, was saying: “Brussels Airport has reopened for passenger flights, but with reduced capacity. Therefore we will be able to offer a limited number of flights from/to Brussels Airport.

“In order to bring all our passengers to their destinations, we will continue flying from/to alternative airports in parallel.”

At least until tomorrow (Tuesday), Brussels Airlines will continue to use Liège and Antwerp airports for some of its European flights.

All flights to and from the airport from Birmingham were cancelled straight away after bomb explosions rocked the Belgian capital on March 22.

For latest details, passengers planning to travel from Birmingham have been advised to check the Brussels Airlines website
