Gung Ho enthusiastic about acquisition

BIRMINGHAM-based consumer, sport and lifestyle PR agency Gung Ho Communications has expanded its presence in the London market with a new acquisition.
The company has acquired strangely-named Coffin on Cake PR in a move that will double the size of the agency’s team and it claims, create a unique proposition in the sector.
Gung Ho has an extensive portfolio of clients within the retail, sport and lifestyle sector including New Balance, Speedo and Garmin, while Coffin on Cake PR is a consumer-focused communications agency servicing the fashion and lifestyle markets with a client base that includes Lee Cooper Selvedge, Farah and Roxy.
Coffin on Cake will form a division of Gung Ho, creating a distinctive full service communications and marketing offer with a 30-plus strong team spread across both cities and which will serve clinets in the UK, Europe and globally.
Paul Phedon, managing director of Gung Ho, will work alongside Coffin on Cake co-founders and directors, Dean Bennett and Alex Craven.
The deal, the terms of which have not been disclosed, is designed to take the business to the next phase of its growth strategy.
Gung Ho said it would enable the business to meet growing demand for fully integrated communications and content, extending the agency’s abilities across PR, web, mobile and social media channels.
Mr Phedon said: “The deal is born from a mutual desire to deliver breakthrough work and creates a new canvas of opportunities for us and our clients. Coffin on Cake’s reputation in fashion and lifestyle is second to none and we are delighted to bring that experience into the Gung Ho fold.”
Gung Ho was advised on the deal by M&A Advisory.
