Why you should go offline at the weekend

Being constantly online all week can be really exhausting. But going offline at the weekend can do you the world of good. Here are five reasons why you ought to sign out of your accounts on a Friday evening.

1. Time for real activities
By going offline, you will have more time to go and do the things that you really love doing instead of lazing around being nosey on Instagram. Visit your family and friends, head to the museum or go for a walk in the countryside. You will feel much more relaxed and you can actually enjoy yourself.

2. It will improve your health
You may miss yet another engagement announcement, but it will be worth it when you’ve replaced your social media for a healthy lifestyle. Spend the morning at the gym or making smoothies for the family. Spending all week in an office doesn’t do much for our health, so make sure you’re getting on top of it over the weekend.

3. You’ll have more me time
How often do we get to just spend time alone and do something we enjoy doing, like reading a magazine or watching a film? Very rarely actually when you’re checking your emails and worrying about work. You need to give yourself the opportunity to recharge and feel like an actual person rather than a robot.

4. You can have an actual conversation
No, a WhatsApp group message with your friends doesn’t count! Meet up with them instead and have a real conversation with them. It’s much easier to enjoy yourself with them too if you’re not constantly checking your phone or feeling the need to tell all your contacts on Snapchat where you are and who you’re with.

5. You’ll be ready for the week ahead
After spending some time recharging, going back to work won’t feel like such a burden as you’ve actually made the most out of your weekend. You can catch up on your emails on Monday morning and then get started on the rest of the week, rather than feeling drained from the last few days.
