Main commuter route blocked after serious accident

ONE of the main commuter routes into Birmingham was closed this morning causing rush hour misery for drivers.
The A441 Pershore Road was blocked at Selly Wick Road, Selly Oak by an overturned car following an accident.
Police officers are on scene directing traffic and motorists have been warned of long delays.
Diversions have been set up and National Expresses buses (Services 45 and 47) have been put on alternative routes around the incident.
It is the second major incident affecting roads on the fringe of Birmingham city centre.
Winson Green Road, between its junctions with Aberdeen Street and Heath Street – at the rear of City Hospital – remains closed this morning due to emergency repairs to a collapsed drain. Diversions have been signposted.
