5 things to do in the West Midlands this weekend

Celebrate your favourite dish
Colmore Business District’s annual Food Festival returns to Victoria Square in Birmingham this weekend. Taste the dishes from restaurants in the area, like Nosh & Quaff, Viva Brazil, Bar Opus and Jekyll & Hyde, whilst you enjoy a wide range of entertainment and demonstrations in the beautiful city centre. Costa Del SolihullCosta del…Solihull?
The nearest beach is so far away for us Brummies, but worry not, you can feel the sand in your toes this weekend in Solihull! Costa Del Solihull is making a return to the Touchwood shopping centre and transforming it into Copacabana, who needs Barmouth?! The fun kick starts on Saturday and will last all summer. Bantock ParkDiscover Engineering
Head to Bantock Park in Wolverhampton on Saturday to discover engineering with your family and friends. There will be live experiments to enjoy as well as the opportunity to see a range of vintage cars, steam engines and a racing car simulator. Businesses from the area will also be there to give career and apprenticeship advice about getting into engineering. FootlooseKick off your Sunday shoes!
Cut loose to Footloose on Saturday at the New Alexandra Theatre in Birmingham! The electric musical, which is based on the 1980s film that took the world by storm, follows city boy Ren who is forced to move to Bomont where dancing is banned. The musical is the perfect mix of rebellion and romance and includes plenty of 80’s classic hits, including Holiding Out for a Hero and Let’s Hear It for the Boy. Find out more here.

The CharterhouseRemember the fallen
The Charterhouse in Coventry will be open to the public this Saturday for an open day and Battle of the Somme commemorative event. There will be a range of historical exhibitions and family activities for you to enjoy. There will also be music and entertainment as well as a tea room with plenty of lovely cakes to treat yourself to! A service of dedication and poppy scattering will commence at 2.30pm too.
