Cosmetic surgery group bought by German investment group

COSMETIC surgery business The Hospital Group, which operates the largest cosmetic surgery hospital in Europe, has been bought by a mid-market investor.
Aurelius Group, based in Munich, Germany, has bought the chain of clinics for an undisclosed sum. Last year Aurelius bought Transform Cosmetic Surgery, which has 27 clinics and two cosmetic surgery hospitals, and positions itself as the UK’s leading cosmetic surgery provider.
The investment fund believes there is “significant potential for large revenue and cost synergies” between Transform and The Hospital Group.
Gerhard Engleder, vice president of Aurelius Group, said: “With the acquisition of The Hospital Group and Transform, we have reached a leading position in the British market for cosmetic surgery and treatment. We see large growth potential in this market for the coming years.”
The Hospital Group is headquartered in Birmingham and employs around 300 people. Its most recent published accounts, for the year to November 2014, showed pre-tax profits of £1.25m on turnover of £30.5m.
The group provides surgical and non-surgical cosmetic procedures, as well as weight loss treatments. It has a hospital in Bromsgrove and 15 clinics across the UK.
