Two West Midlands stores to close as BHS begins wind down

BHS is to shut 20 stores on Saturday as hopes of a rescue deal become increasingly remote.
In the West Midlands, the retailer’s shops in Stratford-upon-Avon and Burton-upon-Trent will close this weekend. It has another 12 across the region that will remain open for the time being.
BHS, which has 163 stores, tried to complete a CVA in March but failed and appointed administrators the following month.
Administrators acting for BHS announced at the start of June they had failed in their bid to find a buyer, with up to 11,000 workers set to be affected.
At the time Philip Duffy and Benjamin Wiles, managing directors of administrators Duff & Phelps confirmed there would be an orderly wind down of the BHS business.
Dominic Chappell’s Retail Acquisitions bought BHS for £1 last year from Sir Philip Green, and the deal as well as the responsibility for large pension liabilities is now being scrutinised as part of several ongoing investigations.
The stores which are closing on July 23 are:

Hartlepool
High Wycombe
Lisburn
Newport
Peterborough
Preston
Slough
