Motor group drives through £1bn turnover milestone

LISTERS, one of the largest privately and family-owned automotive groups in the UK, has smashed through the £1bn turnover mark while doubling its profits.

For the year to March 31, 2016, the group saw turnover soar to £1.086bn from £958.4m in the prior year period.

Pre-tax profits of £21.5m were reported in its latest accounts filed at Companies House, up from £10.3m, with the Audi, Land Rover and Mercedes-Benz divisions making the most significant contribution to the group’s profits.

The company, which has its head office at Stratford Business & Technology Park in Stratford-upon-Avon, has more than 50 outlets across the country and employs around 1,700 staff.

In May 2015, the group added to its stable with the acquisition of the trade and certain assets of a Jaguar dealership and Land Rover dealership, both based in Solihul.

The group was launched in 1979 by Terry Lister and Keith Bradshaw who started out with a single dealership and body shop in Coventry.

It now runs an extensive portfolio of franchises, including BMW, Land Rover, Jaguar, SEAT, Audi, Honda, Toyota, Lexus, Mercedes and Volkswagen.

The company also has a franchise for Volkswagen commercials.
