Hair and beauty business expands just a year after starting up

A WORCESTERSHIRE hair and beauty business is expanding just a year after starting up.

HB Boutique launched last year and set up a base in Catshill in Bromsgrove. The firm has done so well in its first 12 months that it now needs more room to cater for its growing customer base.

The salon has around 800 customers and is running at 50 newcomers every month.

Business owners Rebecca Keyte and Hannah Blaymire initially set up in the ground floor of a shop in Meadow Road on a five-year lease.

They are now going to take over the first floor of the premises to give them the extra space they need.

Equal partners in the business, Ms Keyte specialises on the hairdressing while her partner is the beauty therapist. Each has over a decade of experience in their sectors as well as the Redditch/Bromsgrove area.

Ms Keyte said: “The salon extension is almost there – it is very exciting. We hope to have it up and running in September/October.”

The business currently employs five people and with the expansion this will increase.

It is seeking a fully qualified beauty therapist, two fully qualified hairdressers, a barber and possibly an apprentice.

Law firm Kerwoods advised the business on its original lease and partner Ashley Gurr has now further advised on the extension lease.

He said: “They have worked really hard – it is always inspiring to see a young business, full of enthusiasm, succeeding.

“It is a good catchment area and their service standards and reputation are excellent. Client numbers have grown so fast.”
