Coventry business park owner acquired in new deal

A COVENTRY business park owner has been acquired in a new deal advised out of Birmingham.

The deal, the terms of which have not been disclosed, has seen JP McGurk Holdings acquire Martin International, owner of Brook Business Park.

The business park is home to a number of companies including Joe Delucci’s, Safari Island and Semcon, as well as being the home to the holding company’s trading subsidiary, JP McGurk Performance Cars, one of the UK’s largest Aston Martin specialists.

The deal was financed by Clydesdale Bank and McGurk was advised by Birmingham and Solihull law firm, the Wilkes Partnership.

Wilkes Partnership corporate partner Rick Smyth led the deal, with support from Mike Linford (corporate) and Andrew Watts (property).

Mr Smyth said the deal was the first one of significance it had completed for McGurk.

“As an owner-managed business with ambitious growth plans, JP McGurk Holdings is an ideal client for the firm. We look forward to building a long-lasting relationship with John and his team over the coming years,” he said.

Peter Brooke, relationship manager at Clydesdale Bank, said: “Financing new ventures is at the heart of what we do. JP McGurk is a forward-thinking company determined to succeed, we are delighted to have had the opportunity to help make this happen.”

As part of the deal Wilkes also advised McGurk on a group restructure.
