Traffic Alert: Accident causes major disruption to M6

MOTORISTS planning to use the M6 around Birmingham are being warned of long delays following an accident on the southbound carriageway between Junctions 7 (Great Barr) and 6 (Spaghetti Junction).

The hard shoulder is closed and the incident is not expected to clear until around 6.3opm, with road conditions not reverting to normal until after 7pm.

Queues are already back to almost Junction 10, the exit for Walsall and as rush-hour sets in this is expected to worsen.

Traffic is also slow on the northbound carriageway as it approaches the accident and as traffic heads out of Birmingham at Spaghetti Junction (J6) then congestion is expected to increase.

There is however, better news on the region’s railways after the network was severely disrupted earlier today following a fatality in which a man was struck by a train between Birmingham New Street and Birmingham International. All services have everted to normal ands there are no reports of any delays.
