European group buys £60m-turnover facilities management firm

A £60M-TURNOVER facilities maintenance business has been bought by European support services group SPIE for an undisclosed sum.
Triosgroup, which is based in Erdington, employs nearly 700 people across the UK with regional offices in Enfield, Cirencester, Basingstoke and Warrington. The business covers three areas – property maintenance, legal and statutory compliance, and access and security – and will become part of SPIE UK’s technical facility management division.
Sandra Harris, Triosgroup’s managing director, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for our employees, the company and our customers alike, and we can’t wait to collaborate on many new and exciting projects.”
Triosgroup can trace its roots back to the Midlands building company F Middleton and Sons, which was set up in 1919. It moved into building maintenance with the creation of Middleton Maintenance in 1975 before becoming part of South Staffs Water in 2002. Three years later it was spun-out in an MBO that created Allday Maintenance before a 2013 rebrand to Triosgroup.
The acquisition of Triosgroup grows SPIE UK’s presence in the retail and leisure markets.
James Thoden van Velzen, chief executive of SPIE UK, said: “This acquisition is the next step forward for SPIE’s Technical Facility Management business. We are eager to develop our reach, and with the mobile capabilities Triosgroup provides, we are setting ourselves on a path of significant growth in the sector.”
