Recruitment company selects Birmingham for UK base

A DIGITAL graduate recruitment company has chosen Birmingham to launch its new UK operation.

AM CityGrad – part of the global Angela Mortimer group – works through a bespoke online platform which enables students, graduates and employers to connect.

The company, which has already attracted more than 1,600 users of the platform, has set up offices in Waterloo Street.

Carl Mconie, a graduate of Loughborough University, has been appointed to head up the new venture.

He said: “The launch of the platform is all about giving power to graduates to promote themselves to employers.

“Graduates use the platform to create an interactive CityGrad profile which then instantly becomes searchable to employers. Users are then able to upload video CVs and achievement galleries, enabling candidates to place a far greater emphasis on their qualities and ambitions.

“It’s a simple concept however extremely effective. For graduates it offers an alternative approach to getting their foot in the door of a company. For employers it makes graduates immediately and directly accessible.”

More than 50 job opportunities have already been accepted via AM CityGrad since its launch.

The success has led to the company recruiting for itself, with two interns joining the business to support events and marketing.

“In a short space of time we’ve established strong links with the universities in the region which has helped lead to a really strong take-up from graduates in the West Midlands who are eager to get on the career ladder,” added Mr Mconie.

“We’re delighted with the impact of the launch. Graduates and employers across the country are now using the platform and we have big aspirations to expand further.”

The Angela Mortimer group, which includes Birmingham-based Katie Bard, is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year.
