Property Appointments: Colliers International; Lambert Smith Hampton; Cushman & Wakefield

Colliers International has appointed Iain McArthur as Head of Residential Land, Development & Consultancy within its Birmingham office.
Mr McArthur, who has nearly twenty years of experience in residential development in the Midlands region, joins the company from McCarthy & Stone where he headed the firm’s Land Acquisition team.
Prior to this role, he led DTZ’s Residential Development Consultancy team in Birmingham.
Jon Cookson, Head of Birmingham at Colliers International, said: “The addition of a residential land specialist means that Colliers can offer its clients a totally integrated service.
“Birmingham is on a mission to reclaim its entrepreneurial past and it is bringing with it a wealth of opportunities for feasibility studies, residential land development, PRS and project management services alongside traditional capital markets and agency advice. We are anticipating, and responding to, a significant future growth trend and we welcome Iain to the team.”
Mr McArthur said: “The residential stock in Birmingham is at a record low which is at odds with its rapidly growing population. While this imbalance is maintaining strong investment and rental returns, if we are to achieve the Birmingham Development Plan target of around 2,500 new homes each year until 2031, whilst also meeting the growing demands for commercial development, a strategic assessment is required for all available green and brownfield sites in the Birmingham and West Midlands region.”
Mr McArthur has previously worked on a wealth of residential development sites in the Birmingham area including:
• The disposal and redevelopment of the former Selly Oak Hospital for University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust.
• The change of use and delivery of the former Ridge Hill Hospital site for the NHS Property Services.
• The delivery of Bristol Street and St Luke’s development for Birmingham City Council and HCA.
In his new role he will be working across a range of client types including landowners, public bodies, funds, banks and house builders.

Lambert Smith Hampton (LSH) has announced the appointment of a new associate director in its Birmingham team.
Luke Sutton, who works in the valuation team, has been promoted from senior surveyor to associate director.
He joined the company in January 2013 as a graduate surveyor, moving to a surveyor role the following year when he became MRICS qualified, passing the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors’ Assessment of Professional Competence (APC).
He specialises in a range of commercial and residential valuations and has particular expertise in development viability work.
Adam Ramshaw, head of Birmingham and East Midlands, said: “It’s been a superb year for the LSH Birmingham office and I’m delighted to announce Luke’s promotion, which is well deserved.
“We pride ourselves on providing exceptional support to all our staff and Luke, like so many others at LSH, joined us early in his career and has gone from strength to strength, progressing within the company.”

Cushman & Wakefield has expanded its Birmingham Residential team following the appointment of Vicky Bromley as Graduate Surveyor.
Ms Bromley joins the team, based at No 1 Colmore Square, after spending two years at Cushman & Wakefield’s London office, where most recently she advised and acted on large development projects in the City of London.
In her new role, Ms Bromley, who has a Masters degree in Real Estate Development, will be working on residential valuation and agency instructions across the Midlands.
Her appointment follows the arrival of Eleanor Deeley to head up the Residential team in June this year. She also joins Joe Williams, who was recently promoted to the role of Associate.
Ms Deeley said: “We are pleased to welcome Vicky, she joins at an exciting time for the Residential team. We were recently appointed to dispose of the former Royal Hospital site in Wolverhampton city centre and Middleton House in Derby for residential development.”
