New restaurant houses something for everyone

HOME to a diverse range of vegan and gluten free options, cocktails, ales theatre, children’s activities, music and parties, Leamington’s latest restaurant and bar hopes to bring something for everyone to the city.

After a £700,000 refurbishment, House has launched onto the town’s Parade, creating 30 jobs the across various rooms of the venue.

Just as your home is zoned, House is split into several rooms including The Pump Room – which gives a nod to Leamington’s spa history –  The Kitchen, The Music Room, The Parlour, The Secret Room, The Loft Garden and The Orangery.

Whilst Front of House (the Pump Room and the Kitchen) serves as more of a day house, Back of House (the Music Room, The Parlour, The Secret Room, the Loft Garden and The Orangery) can be enjoyed late into the evening.

Owner Leigh Toogood previously owned The Bluebell in Henley-in-Arden where she met House co-owners, André Taylor and Alex Fleet, who between them have over 20 years’ experience in the kitchen.

The three have combined their 30+ years of experience and varied skill sets in hope of creating a unique, enjoyable and adaptable experience for customers.

Leigh said: “It’s a place where you can feast, quaff and cut shapes – whether it’s all three in one or an exploration of each, a little at a time, in a way that suits you.

“Our inspiration has come from all over the world. Alex is South African and has spent six months researching top bars and restaurants there.

“We were also inspired by swanky London venues and lots of visits to other major UK cities like Leeds and Manchester. We’ve taken the best of everyone else’s house and incorporated it into our house.”

The menu has been designed with vegans and vegetarians in mind, also offering dairy free and gluten free dishes on the menu.

She added: “How you eat is up to you – nibble on smaller dishes like Soft Shell Crab, Lobster Espresso and Duck Parcels or splash out on a huge 28 Day dry aged Herefordshire Porterhouse steak from our grill section with your choice of sides and sauce.

“The wines on the menu are all served by the glass so guests have the choice to really treat themselves or enjoy a quick quaff. It’s totally up to the customer.”
