Redditch firm completes Hinkley Point C contract

A REDDITCH contractor has completed a project at the new Hinkley Point C nuclear power plant.

SPE was contracted to complete the installation and commissioning of a 150-person sewage treatment plant and pumping station, which will service the offices housing the staff and other agencies during the construction of the new power station.

The work included the design, supply and fit of a large electrical control kiosk including pipe work and wiring for blowers and UV filters and their associated control systems, the design and installation of a sampling point and an operating manual.

Although based in Worcestershire, SPE operates nationwide providing coverage for the supply, installation, repair and maintenance of sewage pumps, sewage treatment plants and dirty water pumping stations.

Richard Smith, managing director, SPE said: “This job was undertaken over a very short period of time, especially considering the size of the project.

“We have been working with various power stations for the last 10-15 years, including Hinkley Point B and so have a great understanding on the quality of workmanship expected for this type of project.”
