Job club wins LoveBrum funding

The IAG Job Club in Sutton Coldfield has been awarded £2,000 after winning LoveBrum’s monthly members’ vote to receive funding support.

Each month, LoveBrum selects three good causes around one theme and asks its members to vote for one of the organisations.

January’s theme was getting back into work and The IAG Job Club was chosen ahead of Restore and Street League.

The IAG Job Club was launched in January 2010 with the aim of helping the local community get back into work. The club was set up by two friends, Mike and Barry, who were aware that there was very little provision in the North of the City for people seeking work.

Although most jobs are now advertised online, there are many people who need help to access computers and unfortunately, local Job Centres are unable to always offer this help.

Since setting up in 2010, the club has helped over 400 people get into work and have written 800 CV’s. The club helps the local community by assisting people to access job vacancies online, help to complete job applications, provide help with CV’s, confidence building and interview techniques.

The IAG Job Club can also help clients who may already have a job, but is looking to change.
