Legal Appointments: Browne Jacobson; Wall James Chappell; Lanyon Bowdler

Michael Stace, partner, Browne Jacobson

Browne Jacobson has strengthened its corporate finance offering in the West Midlands with the appointment of partner Michael Stace to its Birmingham practice.

Mr Stace joins the team from Blake Morgan in the Thames Valley region where he was the joint head of corporate finance.

Mr Stace is already known in the region, having recently acted for the vendors on the disposal of QTR Transport to Palletforce and for the management of IconX on the investment by Connection Capital, both transactions having been advised out of the West Midlands.

The new recruit is currently engaged on another matter that is being led out of the West Midlands.

Gavin Cummings, partner and head of the commercial practice, said: “We are committed to growing our West Midlands practice and Michael’s appointment is a key step in fulfilling this strategy.

“We now have four corporate partners on the ground in Birmingham and this puts us in an ideal position to focus on mid-market transactions in the region. With Michael’s experience, we will also extend out national capability of advising on tech transactions.”

The new appointment takes the number of fee earners across Browne Jacobson’s five office network to over 480 and follows on from a successful year in which the law firm posted a record turnover of £64.3m.
