5 things to do in the West Midlands this weekend

1. Romeo & Juliet  Romeo & Juliet

Celebrating 400 years since the birth of Shakespeare, director Roy Palmer presents the iconic tale of forbidden love. This Valentine’s Day weekend, share in the passion of the world’s most famous young lovers, and get swept up in the heartbreak as the tragedy of their two worlds collide.

2. Bournville Farmer’s Market

Date: Saturday February 18
Location: Rowheath Pavillion, Bournville

First started in May 2012, Rowheath Pavilion hosts Bournville Farmers’ Market from 10am-3pm on the third Saturday of the month. Running every month throughout the year, it provides the community with local, home-grown and produced products including bread, meat, fruit, vegetables, cakes, cheese and much more right on your doorstep.

3. Vintage weigh & pay weigh and pay
Date: Saturday February 18
Location: St. Martin’s Church, Birmingham

Grab a bag and browse your way through six tonnes of vintage clothing from the 1960s onwards. You’ll be able to check how much you’re spending at any point by going over to the weigh station. With a wide variety of mens & womens clothing & accessories, there will be literally tonnes to choose from.

Meera Syal’s best-selling novel will be brought to life on stage this week after a sell-out run at Birmingham Rep and Stratford East in 2015. This  coming-of-age tale follows Meena, a young girl growing up in the only Punjabi family in a 1970s Black Country mining village. Meena spends her days happily getting into scrapes with the other local children until one day the impossibly cool Anita enters her life. Suddenly Meena knows exactly who she wants to be but is Anita all that she seems? Soon Meena’s world is turned upside down as she is caught between two very different cultures.

5. Antiques & collectors fair  Edgbaston stadium
Date: Sunday February 19
Location: Edgbaston Stadium, Edgbaston

This Sunday, Shepherd & Williams will be presenting the opportunity for you to find something perfect to complement your home, collection or wardrobe at the Edgbaston Stadium antiques & collectors fair. With up to 120 tables offering furniture, ceramics, militaria, football and music memorabilia, vintage clothing, paintings, clocks, jewellery, glass, collectable toys and much more, it’s set to be a great day out for collectors and bargain hunters alike. There will also be free parking and food and drink available.
