Stainless steel demand boosts Black Country manufacturer

A Black Country manufacturer, which is a world leader in its field, has seen a flood of new orders following a sudden demand for high quality stainless steel.
Brierley Hill based Alloy Wire International, which produces round, flat, shaped and profile wire, said the new orders had been received from firms in the aerospace, nuclear, marine, petrochemical and spring making sectors.
The company, which also has a factory in Yorkshire, currently produces 18 different grades of stainless steel, all available in special diameter tolerances, tensile strength ranges, surface finishes and packaging.
“We produce an extensive range of grades and our expansive stock levels mean we can provide it in any quantity from 1/4kg to 50kg in just two weeks,” said sales executive Natalie Baker.
“Applications can be as diverse as ‘locking’ wire for aircraft engines to stainless steel wire for cutting honeycomb from a beehive.
“Interest in this type of material is up 15% on the same time last year and our pipeline of potential orders suggest this could increase in 2017.”
AWI, which is AS9100 ‘Aerospace and Defence’ accredited, has enjoyed another strong 12 months, consolidating market share in key territories and expanding its global reach to supply into 52 countries.
