1. Cake International

Cake International, the sugarcraft, cake decorating & baking show returns to Birmingham this weekend, bringing its biggest and brightest show yet.

Hosting the world’s largest display of competition pieces, demonstrators and industry experts from around the world to teach the newest trends, and stands full of those must-have baking and sugarcrafting essentials, this event is a must for all bakers, foodies and cake lovers! Visitors can also explore three other exciting shows at the NEC; Sewing for Pleasure, Fashion & Embroidery and Hobbycrafts, which are all included within the Cake International ticket.

Location: New Alexandra Theatre, Birmingham
Have you ever wondered what it’s like to go backstage at the Alex? If so, book on to one of their backstage theatre tours taking place this Saturday from 10:30am.

Each tour will give you an insight into one of the most historic theatres in the West Midlands. See the dressing rooms that have housed the stars, visit the backstage areas that are the workhouse of theatre life and finally step on stage at the Alex and in doing so join with some of the greats of English theatre.

3. Comic Concomic con
Date: Saturday March 18 – Sunday March 19
Location: NEC, Birmingham
If films, comics, sci-fi, gaming, anime or cosplay are your thing, you won’t want to miss out on MCM Comic Con as it returns to Birmingham this weekend.

Brought to you by the team behind MCM London Comic Con, the largest event of its type in Europe, Birmingham Comic Con is a weekend-long celebration of all things great and geeky. Meet special guests from the worlds of TV and film, explore a Comic Village packed with artists and writers, take part in eSports competitions, watch on-stage panels and enjoy the colourful costumes of the Cosplay Masquerade. Guests at recent shows include cast from Game of Thrones, The Walking Dead, Doctor Who, Harry Potter, The Lord of the Rings and Star Wars.

Location: Regent Theatre, Stoke-on-Trent
Starring Mick Ferry, Tanya Lee Davis, Tom Houghton and Damion Larkin (MC).
Damion Larkin, producer of Laugh Out Loud Comedy said, “Wow what a fantastic line up this month! We actually have three headline acts in one show. One’s done loads of TV and film including Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow, the others done lots too including Live at the Apollo and the last one is firm BBC regular and favourite”

5. Singalong with the CBSO cbso
Date: Saturday March 18
Location: Symphony Hall, Birmingham

Ever wanted to sing live at Symphony Hall with the full CBSO? Now’s your chance to find out, in this one-off performance of Mendelssohn’s Elijah, written especially for Birmingham in 1846. Whether you’re a choral society veteran or have only ever sung it in the shower, you’re welcome to rehearse and perform it this Saturday, under the CBSO’s internationally acclaimed chorus director Simon Halsey CBE.
