Chase firms get help understanding social media

BUSINESS leaders in Cannock are set to improve their knowledge of social media tools through a series of training sessions hosted by area’s chamber of commerce, now part of Birmingham Chamber Group.
Two sessions have been organised in response to calls from members for straight-forward guidance on how Twitter and Facebook can improve their businesses.
The sessions, being led by Linda Jones, managing director at Cannock-based media agency Passionate Media, will also feature advice on blogging and podcasting.
Ms Jones, an acclaimed blogger with around 3,000 followers on Twitter, said: “In the last two years our company has won major clients through links forged via social media. Different social media methods can be used for marketing, research and networking.
“There’s still a perception among some business owners that social media is a waste of time. But social media can save time. We’ll present compelling case studies of real companies – major and smaller – who have harnessed the impact of social media to bring fantastic results for their business.”
“It’s great to be linking up with the Chase Chamber along with the Birmingham Chamber Group and be the first media agency that has helped them provide training of this type to members,” she added.
The sessions, which take place on Thursday November 25 and Thursday December 9, will be held at the chamber’s new Point East training centre in Heath Hayes.
Along with fellow Passionate Media director Carol Garrington, Ms Jones will also give an introduction to social media at an extended Chase Chamber breakfast networking meeting, taking place at the Ramada Hotel in Cannock on Friday November 5.
