In Brief: Media ball, Jelly, Aston Martin

Media ball offers ‘Premier’ opportunity for footy fans
FANS of Aston Villa and Birmingham City can get their hands on the Barclays Premier League trophy. The famous football cup will be on show at this week’s Midlands Press Ball where guests will be able to have their photo taken with it. The loan has been organised by the event’s co-sponsor Barclays Corporate. The ball is hosted by the Birmingham Press Club and takes place at the Burlington Hotel, in Birmingham city centre, on October 29. Press Club chairman John Lamb said: “I am sure that guests who are football fans will jump at the chance of being photographed with the trophy given that they may have to wait a little time before fans of Blues and Villa get their hands on it as winners.” A framed signed photograph of Birmingham City’s first team squad will be auctioned in aid of Acorns Children’s Hospice and the Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance.
Second date for Birmingham business co-working event
CO-WORKING group Jelly is hosting its second event in Birmingham next month. Jelly days take place in public venues, such as hotels or coffee shops, and are aimed mainly at people who normally work at home. The new Jelly group in Birmingham held its inaugural meeting earlier this month at Urban Coffee Company and will meeting again on November 16. Birmingham Jelly organiser Rickie Josen, left, said: “For me it was good to meet some completely new people and one or two I only knew via Twitter. The next one is set for November 16 as its Global Enterprise Week and this day’s focus is about pulling together and sharing ideas so perfect for Jelly.” A Shropshire Jelly fraternity has been running successfully for several months now across the county.
A touch of Bond comes to Breakfast club
STOURBRIDGE Breakfast Club members brushed shoulders with some sports cars at a recent meeting. Stratstone Aston Martin Hagley showed off some of its models to the business club, left, which is organised by Talbots Solicitors, while guests heard from the car firm’s dealer Iain Randall. The event was held at Hagley Hall and attended by over 100 guests. Mr Randall said: “It was a great pleasure to talk at this event. I know in the past there have been some very high level speakers, so it was an honour.” Past speakers have included Lord Cobham and Worcester Warriors’ commercial director Kathy Leather. The next Breakfast club will be held on November 10 at Hagley Hall.
