Mediwatch enters in OEM with US firm
WARWICKSHIRE medtech company Mediwatch, which specialises in innovative urological diagnostic equipment, has entered into an Original Equipment Manufacture (OEM) partnership with US firm ACON Laboratories to distribute its urinalysis products.
The partnership includes a distribution agreement allowing Mediwatch to distribute worldwide the ACON line of urinalysis products under the Mediwatch brand, Urinewatch. The worldwide urinalysis market is estimated to be worth more than $500m in annual sales.
ACON is an internationally renowned diagnostic company with manufacturing and distribution operations in China and the United States. The company is a recognised market leader in the production of quality diagnostic tests.
Rugby based Mediwatch said it was excited to have the opportunity of working with the international group and to add its new diagnostic product to its existing urology diagnostic range.
Philip Stimpson, Mediwatch’s chief executive, said: “This is an excellent opportunity for Mediwatch to expand its one-stop shop offering for urologists.”
Founded in 1996, Mediwatch has developed a range of point-of-care medical equipment for the diagnosis of urological disorders. The business focuses its design skills towards diagnostic products that can be used across the medical profession.
The firm maintains a growth strategy and is building on the acquisition and integration of a division of Medtronic Inc in 2007. Mediwatch, which also operates out of the US, has an international distribution network of 80 dealers.
