FTSE tipped to open flat to slightly lower on Eurozone woes

PRE-OPEN REPORT: Headline shares are tipped to open flat to slightly lower, according to financial websites, as Eurozone woes rumble on and Rolls-Royce in focus as it faces compensation claims for engine failures.

In America last night, the Dow rose 173 points at 11,181, the Nasdaq Composite added 38 points at 2,514 and the S&P500 gained 18 points at 1,197.

In Asia today, the Nikkei was last up 12 points at 10,026, while the Hang Seng ended the morning off 353 points at 23,284.

Crude oil traded at £51.02 a barrel on Nymex and gold settled at £843.28 an ounce.

In a thin corporate diary for the day, interim results are due from Fuller Smith and Turner and New World Resources.

Trading statements are expected from Bisichi Mining, FBD Holdings, Rotork and T Clarke.

Anglo and Overseas, Greenko Group, Matchtech Group, North River Resources and Northamber host their AGMs.
