Thomas Taylor

Tom studied law at The University of Leicester and Birmingham’s University of Law before joining international law firm, Eversheds Sutherland LLP in 2010. Tom worked in Eversheds’ Birmingham office for nine years specialising in substantial development projects in the residential, retail, education and healthcare sectors including a particular focus on BTR and PBSA projects in the Manchester and Birmingham markets acting for both institutional funders and developers.

From there Tom moved to the UK’s largest contractor, Balfour Beatty. Whilst at Balfour Beatty Tom led the legal team for the core construction services business for England and Wales and was part of the senior management team for that division which focused on infrastructure and buildings and had over £800million worth of projects in active delivery. At Balfour Beatty he was responsible for ensuring contracts for new projects accurately reflected the agreed risk management strategies, the management of multiple upstream and downstream disputes on existing and legacy projects and the immediate response in the event of health and safety and environmental incidents. In particular, he had a focus on building fire safety.

As Commercial Director and a practicing solicitor, Tom’s role at Court Collaboration embraces all aspects of our projects from site acquisition and funding, pre-construction, delivery and through to completion and aftercare. Tom’s primary focus is on the negotiation of the funding, development and construction documents, identifying legal and regulatory compliance risks and reporting to our clients and investors.

Tom is pragmatic and collaborative bringing a calmness to negotiations. His attention to detail and ability to cut through complex issues with clarity allows him to identify and mitigate project risks ensuring the successful delivery of projects on time, within budget and to the right quality.
