Powerleague has begun construction of four new padel courts at its Stoke Trentham Lakes site, marking a major expansion of its facilities following an \u00a3815,000 investment.<\/p>\n
The addition of canopied padel courts complements the site\u2019s existing five and seven-a-side football pitches, reflecting Powerleague\u2019s strategy to broaden its sports offering.<\/p>\n
John Gillespie, chief executive officer at Powerleague said: \u201cWe\u2019re really excited to be bringing padel to our Stoke Trentham Lakes club, giving more people the chance to try out this fantastic sport. This investment demonstrates our commitment to providing a broader range of activities and creating additional opportunities for people to stay healthy and connected within their communities. We\u2019ve seen the positive impact that being active can have, and padel\u2019s social side makes it a great addition. We can\u2019t wait to welcome everyone to the new courts.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Stoke Trentham Lakes facility will now offer 60 and 90-minute padel bookings for players of all skill levels, as well as introductory lessons and social events.<\/p>\n
The new courts are expected to open in February, with court prices starting from \u00a36.50 per person.<\/p>\n
The expansion complements existing amenities, including 3G football pitches, floodlights, changing rooms, on-site parking, a bar, and a function room for events.<\/p>\n
This investment forms part of Powerleague\u2019s wider \u00a314m UK padel programme, following successful openings in Manchester, Romford, Birmingham, Portobello, and Sighthill.<\/p>\n
The move aligns with the rapid growth of padel in the UK, where the number of courts has increased from 150 to over 1,000 in four years, and player numbers are projected to rise from 129,000 to 400,000 by 2026, according to the Lawn Tennis Association.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
