Founded in 1959, the business specialised in the manufacture and import of ultra-thin, lightweight and affordable 9ct gold and costume jewellery.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"148\" data-end=\"599\">It supplied a broad customer base that included high-street retail chains, repeat commercial clients and a number of established direct-to-consumer online platforms. Operations were split across two sites in Hastings and Birmingham.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"148\" data-end=\"599\">Following the appointment of joint administrators, a sale of the Hastings operation was completed, securing the transfer of 41 employees to the acquiring business. No buyer was found for the Birmingham site, which had been operating at a loss, resulting in 11 redundancies.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"601\" data-end=\"881\">Despite its long trading history, the company faced a combination of challenges last year. These included falling turnover, outstanding HMRC liabilities, changes to supplier credit terms and ongoing volatility in gold and silver prices, which placed sustained pressure on margins.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"883\" data-end=\"1304\">Professional turnaround advice was sought during 2025, with work focused on cashflow forecasting, scenario planning and cost-reduction measures, including potential site closures and redundancies.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"883\" data-end=\"1304\">Refinance options were also explored. However, it ultimately became clear that the business would be unable to meet creditor arrears and loan repayment obligations, prompting an accelerated sales process to identify a buyer.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1581\" data-end=\"1920\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">An administrator said: \u201cWhile it is always unfortunate when a business with such a long trading history encounters difficulties, insolvency was difficult to avoid given the financial challenges faced and the volatility in precious metal prices.
