City of Wolverhampton Council is set to open applications for a new \u00a3400,000 grant programme aimed at supporting high street businesses across the city\u2019s main centres.<\/p>\n
The Vibrant High Streets grants programme for 2026\/27 will be available to small and independent businesses operating in Wolverhampton city centre, Bilston, Wednesfield and other local high streets.<\/p>\n
The scheme is intended to support practical improvements that enhance the appearance, safety and customer experience of business premises, covering both the daytime and night-time economy.<\/p>\n
Grants of up to \u00a35,000 will be available, with businesses able to apply across three categories: frontage improvements, internal and external refurbishments, and digital, marketing and security measures.<\/p>\n
Applicants will be required to provide a match funding of 20 per cent of the total project cost.<\/p>\n
The programme is funded through Government Pride in Place Impact Funding and follows wider public-sector investment already underway in Wolverhampton\u2019s urban centres. This includes city centre public realm works, the redevelopment of Bilston Market and improvements to Wednesfield High Street.<\/p>\n
Applications will open on Friday, March 6, and will be assessed on a rolling basis until the funding is fully allocated.<\/p>\n
Councillor Chris Burden, City of Wolverhampton Council Cabinet Member for City Development, Jobs and Skills, said: \u201cThe aim of this grant scheme is to build on the major investment currently being delivered across our urban centres. This further support for our \u2018High Street\u2019 retailers and businesses gives them the opportunity to secure funding that will enable them to thrive and boost the local economy.<\/p>\n
