Plans for a major new housing-led development on the edge of Bridgnorth have been approved, clearing the way for one of the largest residential schemes considered by Shropshire Council in recent years.<\/p>\n
County planners have granted consent for Tasley Garden Village, a proposed 1,500-home development on 112.3 hectares of agricultural land to the south-west of the town.<\/p>\n
The application was submitted in May 2025 by housebuilders Bloor Homes and Taylor Wimpey, following several years of preparatory work and consultation.<\/p>\n
The scheme was brought before the council\u2019s southern planning committee after an extended engagement process with local stakeholders. The site spans three parish council areas – Morville, Bridgnorth and Tasley – and is intended to deliver a mixed-use garden village-style development.<\/p>\n
In addition to new housing, the proposals include sports facilities, a country park and supporting community infrastructure.<\/p>\n
A key commercial element of the scheme is the allocation of 14.6 hectares for employment land, aimed at creating jobs and supporting business growth in the local area.<\/p>\n
Speaking to the committee, Jonathan Burns, senior planning director at Pegasus Group, acting for the developers, said the plans had been shaped over six years and refined through ongoing community engagement. He highlighted that the development is designed to address a range of local housing needs while also delivering wider economic benefits.<\/p>\n
The approved section 106 obligations include provision for a new primary school, medical facilities and the introduction of a new bus service to support connectivity between the development and Bridgnorth.<\/p>\n
