A Solihull-based recruitment firm is preparing for a period of expansion after securing new funding to deliver a long-term contract in the higher education sector.

KC Group, formerly known as Kate & Co, has received £100,000 in backing from UKSE to support a four-year recruitment agreement that is expected to drive headcount growth and operational investment over the next year.

The funding follows the award of a national contract covering operational recruitment across universities and colleges.

Led by managing director Sarah Grace, the female-led business was established in 1997 and focuses on the recruitment of business operations, HR, accountancy and finance professionals across the UK.

The latest contract will see the firm supply operational roles to 122 higher education institutions through two major procurement frameworks: North Western Universities Purchasing Consortium and South Universities Procurement Consortium.

The scale of the agreement is expected to increase KC Group’s workforce from 13 to 21 within the next 12 months.

Alongside recruitment, the company plans to invest in systems and technology to support delivery, including new business development software and upgrades to its existing customer relationship management tools.

Sarah Grace said: “The investment from UKSE has come at the perfect time. We needed to look at how we could futureproof the business and the two university procurement contracts is how we will achieve that goal.

“To get the contract off the ground we needed more people and new technology. It was my first time speaking to a company like UKSE and their approach was so refreshing. We worked in partnership and my business will grow and flourish because of the funding.”

The funding will also be used to implement Paiger, a platform designed to automate and streamline business development activity for recruiters, as well as upgrade the firm’s phone systems to better integrate with its CRM and reporting processes.

UKSE regional executive Mike Lowe said: “We are delighted to be able to support KC Group with their growth plans. Sarah and the team perfectly illustrate how UKSE support can have a positive impact on job creation and the long-term prosperity of a business.”
