Mercia Real Estate (MRE) has received planning permission for the second phase of its Ha\u00fcs Edgbaston student living development, adding 129 additional beds and bringing the total capacity to 395.<\/p>\n
The first phase of the project, which will convert part of the 95,000 sq ft former HSBC office into 266 beds for \u00a332m, is scheduled for practical completion in June, ready for students arriving for the 2026\/27 academic year. Once the second phase is complete, the total redevelopment spend will exceed \u00a345m.<\/p>\n

A recent topping-out event for the first-phase show apartments brought together project partners, consultants, and stakeholders to showcase the quality of design and operational planning ahead of the building opening later this year.<\/p>\n
The show apartments offer Classic and Premium options, featuring shared flats with private bathrooms and communal kitchens as well as high-end self-contained studios.<\/p>\n
