The Mole Clinic, the UK’s largest independent provider of skin-cancer screening and mole checks, has launched a new clinic in Birmingham.

Located in Edgbaston, the clinic will offer full-body skin assessments, single mole checks, mole mapping, and doctor-led mole removals, addressing growing demand for specialist, rapid-access dermatology services.

Annie Meharg, CEO of The Mole Clinic said: “Birmingham is one of the UK’s largest and most vibrant cities, and we’re proud to be expanding our services here. As awareness of skin cancer grows, more people are recognising the importance of specialist assessment and early diagnosis rather than delaying checks. UV exposure is cumulative – it builds over years through holidays, outdoor work, sport and everyday activities. Even short periods of sunburn earlier in life can increase future risk. Our aim is to make expert screening easily accessible so people can take control of their skin health with confidence.

“The Birmingham clinic allows patients to access comprehensive assessment, monitoring and treatment without unnecessary waiting times. We want skin checks to become a normal part of preventative healthcare, just like dental or eye appointments.”

Dr David Veitch, consultant dermatologist at The Mole Clinic said: “From a clinical perspective, timing makes a substantial difference. When suspicious lesions are identified early, intervention is often more straightforward and outcomes are significantly improved. Our Birmingham clinic will deliver thorough dermoscopy-led examinations, digital mole mapping for ongoing surveillance, and doctor-led mole removals where clinically indicated, providing a clear pathway from initial assessment through to treatment.”

For over 20 years, The Mole Clinic has served more than 350,000 patients nationwide, with an independently accredited, clinically audited approach that is recognised for diagnostic accuracy and patient reassurance. The Birmingham clinic also aims to support local awareness initiatives throughout the year, encouraging sun safety and routine professional skin reviews.

Appointments are available with same-day or next-day access, and private patients can book without a GP referral. The service provides fast-track referrals to consultant dermatologists and surgeons covered by all major UK private insurers, ensuring comprehensive care from assessment through treatment.
