Plans for the redevelopment of the historic Spode Works site in Stoke-on-Trent have reached the consultation stage, with local stakeholders invited to provide feedback ahead of a planning submission.<\/p>\n
Social impact developer Capital&Centric, working in partnership with Stoke-on-Trent City Council, is progressing proposals to transform the former pottery factory into a mixed-use destination.<\/p>\n
The initial phase focuses on reintroducing public access to the site through a combination of leisure, hospitality and open space.<\/p>\n
Proposals include the introduction of food and drink venues, padel courts and new public routes through the China Halls, improving connectivity between the site and Kingsway.<\/p>\n
Plans also outline the removal of Gordon House to reveal the historic fa\u00e7ade of the China Hall, alongside enhancements to existing green space, including the Spode Rose Garden.<\/p>\n
The approach prioritises the retention and restoration of viable heritage buildings, alongside the removal of structures deemed beyond repair, in line with wider regeneration principles for the site.<\/p>\n
Tom Wilmot, managing director at Capital&Centric said: \u201cSpode Works is packed with proper Stoke history and character, so the aim is simple – keep what makes it special and open it up so people can actually enjoy it again. Phase one gets the ball rolling with new public spaces, places to eat and drink, and even spaces for sport. We\u2019d love locals to pop down, grab a slice and a pint, and tell us what they think.\u201d<\/p>\n
A public consultation event is scheduled to take place at the China Halls on 26 March, with feedback open until early April. Responses will be used to refine the proposals before submission to the local authority.<\/p>\n
The wider 10-acre masterplan aims to deliver a mixed-use neighbourhood, incorporating residential, workspace, leisure and public realm elements, as part of a long-term strategy to reposition the site within Stoke-on-Trent\u2019s economy.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
