Kingscote Construction, part of Morrisroe Group, has been appointed to deliver the redevelopment of Aston Villa\u2019s North Stand at Villa Park, marking the contractor\u2019s first major stadium project.<\/p>\n
Work is scheduled to begin on site this month, with completion targeted for December 2027, according to Morrisroe Group\u2019s latest annual accounts.<\/p>\n
The revised scheme replaces an earlier \u00a3100m demolition-and-rebuild proposal, instead retaining and extending the existing structure, including the stand\u2019s core frame, roof and fa\u00e7ade.<\/p>\n
The accounts said: \u201cThe project reflects a strong collaborative approach, with approximately 40% of specialist services delivered in-house by Morrisroe Group companies and complemented by two key strategic supply chain partners and a carefully coordinated wider supply chain.\u201d<\/p>\n
Although new to stadium delivery as a main contractor, Kingscote has delivered a range of residential and commercial schemes, while the wider Morrisroe Group has significant experience in complex structural packages, including major works on Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.<\/p>\n
The redesigned North Stand will increase capacity by extending the bowl backwards, upwards and outwards, delivering an additional 5,926 seats and raising total capacity at Villa Park to approximately 48,800, alongside 54 new wheelchair-user spaces.<\/p>\n
The existing fa\u00e7ade will be retained and re-clad, while new semi-exposed stair cores will be introduced at each end of the stand.<\/p>\n
A replacement \u201cfloating\u201d roof structure has also been designed to improve natural light penetration.<\/p>\n
The stand height will increase from 28 metres to 34.5 metres once complete.<\/p>\n
Aston Villa FC previously stated that refurbishing rather than rebuilding the stand from scratch would allow works to be completed within a single season, reducing disruption and delivering cost and programme efficiencies.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
