{"id":2112072,"date":"2026-05-20T14:56:45","date_gmt":"2026-05-20T13:56:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thebusinessdesk.com\/westmidlands\/?p=2112072"},"modified":"2026-05-20T15:05:19","modified_gmt":"2026-05-20T14:05:19","slug":"west-midlands-trains-strike-action-set-to-go-ahead-after-talks-fail-to-resolve-dispute","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thebusinessdesk.com\/westmidlands\/news\/2112072-west-midlands-trains-strike-action-set-to-go-ahead-after-talks-fail-to-resolve-dispute","title":{"rendered":"West Midlands Trains strike action set to go ahead after talks fail to resolve dispute"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Strike action by rail staff at West Midlands Trains is set to go ahead later this week following unsuccessful talks over rest day working payments.<\/p>\n<p>The Transport Salaried Staffs\u2019 Association (TSSA) is seeking parity with other unions on rest day pay, but discussions with the arbitration service ACAS have failed to produce a resolution, leaving planned industrial action in place.<\/p>\n<p>Walkouts are scheduled across the West Midlands Trains network on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, with services expected to operate on a heavily reduced timetable or face cancellation.<\/p>\n<p>The action will involve roster clerks, who are due to strike from midnight on Thursday for 24 hours, as well as duty train crew managers and control staff, who are set to take action from midday Friday until midday Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>In total, more than 100 members were balloted by TSSA across the affected roles prior to the vote for industrial action.<\/p>\n<p>Maryam Eslamdoust, General Secretary of TSSA, said: \u201cAs things stand these strikes will go ahead as planned because the company is simply refusing to give our members parity with those in other unions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat is an intolerable situation, especially given the fact these are modest demands. Our reps at West Midlands Trains have consulted the membership and they remain determined to proceed with their legitimate action. It\u2019s now up to the company to come to their senses and stop these walkouts. Our union remains open to further discussions and only takes strike action as a last resort.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Services across the network are expected to face
