Birmingham\u2019s specialist residential developer, Sphere Group, has announced the appointment of Chris Hill, who joins the team as project director.<\/p>\n
Hill will take a leading role in ensuring Sphere Group developments continue to achieve the highest standards across planning, delivery, sustainability and value.<\/p>\n
He joins the team having spent time overseas as regional property lead with project management and advisory specialists, TSA Riley, as well as representing global venue developer Oak View Group as part of numerous concurrent new build arena projects.<\/p>\n
As a former consultancy business MD, Birmingham Commonwealth Games Bid Project Manager and NEC Group Arenas Project Director – with residential development experience to boot – he will bring a wide range of skills to the Sphere Group team.<\/p>\n

Birmingham manufacturer Westley Engineering has appointed Christopher Greenough as its new managing director.<\/p>\n
He succeeds retiring managing director John Harland and brings more than 30 years of senior operational experience across UK manufacturing, including commercial and managing director roles.<\/p>\n

The business employs 47 people and generates around \u00a35m in annual turnover from its Birmingham base, where it specialises in presswork, tooling and CNC machining for sectors including automotive, aerospace and defence.<\/p>\n
It holds IATF 16949 and AS9100 accreditations and has continued to invest in new equipment, including CNC and machining upgrades in recent years.<\/p>\n
Greenough said: \u201cWestley Engineering has an extraordinary heritage and reputation which has been built over generations,\u201d he said. \u201cWhat immediately stood out to me was the depth of engineering capability within the business and the commitment of the people here. There is a huge opportunity to build on those foundations and take the company into an exciting new phase of growth, building on the strong foundations laid by John Harland.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe unique combination of tooling expertise, CNC machining capability and quality accreditations gives us a very strong platform, particularly within aerospace and defence, where customers are increasingly looking for resilient, technically capable UK manufacturing partners.\u201d<\/p>\n
The company traces its origins back to 1812, when Westley Richards & Co. was founded, before evolving over time into industrial engineering alongside its firearms heritage. The engineering arm became Westley Engineering following a formal separation of divisions in 1998.<\/p>\n
Greenough said: \u201cOne of my priorities will be strengthening our apprenticeship programme and continuing to invest in workforce skills, because the future of manufacturing depends on developing the next generation of engineers.<\/p>\n
