A Stirling-based aquaculture technology business is scaling up production of its fish vaccination systems through a new manufacturing partnership.<\/p>\n
Sgorran, founded by industry specialists Kristian Clezy and Gordon Jeffrey, is outsourcing production of its Inoca machines to Walsall-based contract manufacturer PP Control & Automation.<\/p>\n
The agreement shifts full build activity to PP C&A\u2019s facility, freeing Sgorran to focus on product development and R&D as it looks to expand sales of its automated vaccination systems for aquaculture.<\/p>\n
The Inoca platform is designed to vaccinate large volumes of fish using a modular, multi-channel system, with capacity scaling depending on configuration. The technology delivers multiple intraperitoneal and intramuscular vaccines commonly used in fish farming operations.<\/p>\n
Kristian Clezy from Sgorran said: \u201cInterest in Inoca is coming from all over the globe and we quickly realised that we could not keep up with demand if we tried to do it ourselves,\u201d explained Kristian, who has many years\u2019 experience in the sector.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur strengths rest in the design and innovation of the aquaculture technology, and this is what we want to focus on. We started to look for an outsourcing partner and was blown away by the capabilities of PP Control & Automation when we visited its site and spoke to its new product introduction and engineering teams.\u201d<\/p>\n
Sgorran and PP C&A have worked together to create a dedicated NPI cell, which will soon progress into a full build line, including mechanical, pneumatic and electrical control assemblies.<\/p>\n
Supply chain management will be overseen by the English outsourcing specialist, helping to cut lead times by four weeks and providing increased purchasing power.<\/p>\n
Clezy said: \u201cThe first two models are destined for UK and Europe, with the latter up to eight channels wide. That\u2019s where the modular build is so important. You can have as little as one, right up to eight, giving the client the capacity to vaccinate up to 100,000 fish every day.<\/p>\n
\u201cAlthough we have lots of experience in the team, we are a relatively new business and that can sometimes cause issues when pitching for future orders. Partnering with PP C&A has changed those perceptions and we\u2019re now seeing customers starting to place orders, as they now know we can meet lead times and volumes. You can\u2019t put a value on that.\u201d<\/p>\n
