From street level, the building\u2019s strong Art Deco design is immediately apparent and its striking double doors and detailed frontage is a surprising detail on one of the city\u2019s busiest streets.<\/p>\n
Famed for their craftsmanship and geometric patterns, Art Deco buildings are important to celebrate, particularly within a commercial setting.<\/p>\n
Original features include the bold entrance and door surround which practically drag you in from the street as well as the building\u2019s statement staircase which have been carefully retained and restored, allowing the period character to remain central to the occupier experience.<\/p>\n
Birmingham\u2019s most renowned Art Deco building is the Barber Institute of Fine Arts, a Grade-I listed building on the University of Birmingham\u2019s Edgbaston campus, is an art gallery and concert hall.<\/p>\n
Its purpose today is much more closely linked to its artistic and luxurious past than an office building is but that\u2019s exactly why King Edward House is a great example of regeneration and preservation.<\/p>\n
